Willis Dickson Baker

Willis Dickson Baker of Port Richey, Fl passed away early Sunday morning on Sept 20th while surrounded by family. He lost his battle of 22 years with multiple cancers and is finally at peace without any more pain. Willis was a highly decorated 20 year Army Veteran which started 2 years after highschool. He spent 9 years in Fort Carson, Co, Ft Hood, Tx and 11 years in Italy, Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq for Desert Storm.

During his early year in Italy he married his girlfriend Lisa and decided to start a family. After his days in OD green he had more time on his hands and they graced us with a son Jeremy in 1995.

After his military career he worked at Office Depot, Computer City, CompUSA, Dept of Homeland Security TSA as well as an Instructor at the Intelligence School at FT. Huachuca, AZ.

The last 22 years have not been a walk in the park but he gets to go down in history books as one of the longest survivors to have a feeding tube over 20 years. This was remarkable to all of us. He still managed to power through work and family life with Band competitions, football games, trips, graduations and his daughters wedding. He tried really hard to make it to his Son's wedding just 21 days away. But unfortunately, the lord needed him and called him home.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Baker of Port Richey. His 2 children Adrienne Schmais (David) of Waterford, VT and Jeremy Baker (Ariane') of Clearwater, FL. Also his 4 grandchildren Timothy, David III, Abigail and Thomas.

He is predeceased by his Adopted parents Willis Cady Baker and Alice Mary Draper and his half sister Marion Baker McElroy.

 Public Viewing hours will be at Prevatt Funeral Home on Sr. 52 from 9am to 11am, with a special prayer 11:00am on October 1st. Funeral at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Thursday Oct 1st at 1pm.
