Sylvester W. Muller

In loving memory of Sylvester Muller, Sy, Sonny who passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2023 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anna and his brother Robert Muller. Sy and Anna had 5 children together: Bob Muller, Tom and wife Peggy, Paula and husband Glenn, Karen and husband Joe, and Chrissy and husband Mark. They have 10 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his son Bob Muller, brother Bill Muller and sisters Marion Shanley, Helen Hanahoe.

Sy was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, and friend that lived a colorful life. He was born in southwest Philly.  He learned his trade growing up at his fathers side in the family business, eventually opening his own family bakery.  He honed his talent as Master baker through apprenticeship at the White House.  As president of the “Master Bakers of America” he was known across the country and helped televate the profession of cake decorating. Sy was a frequent celebrity of local Philadelphia TV shows such as Captain Kangaroo, Chief Half Town, and the local news programs years before reality TV. 

He married the love of his life Anna on August 9, 1952. They celebrated 70 blessed years together.  They were partners in everything, working side by side for 34 years at their business, The New Manoa Bakery, in Havertown, PA. When they finally retired and sold the business, Sy and Anna moved to Bayonet Point, Florida almost 30 years ago. They hung up their aprons for golf, spending time with family, and well deserved relaxation.

Sy’s smile could light up a room.  He always said “I’ve lived a great life.” And by all that is important, the love of family and friends, he certainly did.  He will be missed but we are all blessed by having him in our lives.
