Stanley Richard Linscott, 91
Hudson, Fla.- Stanley Richard Linscott passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Hudson, Fla. of complications from diabetes.
Stan was born on March 28, 1935, in Norway, Maine, the son of the late Clarence and Viola Linscott. He had a difficult childhood, leaving home as a teenager and finding his way through life until he met his beloved wife, Annette, who he married at the age of nineteen. They were married for 61 years before Annette passed away in June of 2016.
Stan was a fun loving, hardworking father of four. By day, he worked as a butcher with Jordans Meats in Portland, and on weekends, he was the lead singer and drummer in a local band called the Malibu’s. They were a well-known band at the time playing at the local Moose Lodge and Eagles Club. Stan taught himself to play the drums by ear and had a singing voice that could mimic Frank Sinatra.
He left Jordans Meats to co-own a successful variety store with his wife on outer Forest Avenue (S&A Variety) in Portland. After moving to Florida, he and his wife continued to work together on other small business ventures until, in his fifties, he received his GED and graduated from barber school. He opened his own barber shop and retired in his late seventies. He loved cutting hair and talking to his customers.
Stan had many interests and hobbies. He was a dance instructor for the Arthur Miller dance studio when he was young and loved to dance with his wife and daughters. He loved to go for long bike rides, sea kayaking, was in a bowling league, square danced and loved all genres of music.
He will be missed by his four children, son Michael of Kiawah Island, S.C. (Michelle), son Randy of Standish. Me., daughter Holly Epperly of Elgin, Ill (William), and daughter Wendy Vaccaro Selleck of Gorham, Me. (Stephen), sixteen grandchildren and seventeen greatgrandchildren.
The family would like to recognize and thank Stan’s caregiver for the last seven years, Ruth Velazquez, for her dedication and assistance.
At Stanley’s request, there will be no formal service. The family will hold a private remembrance and celebration of his life later this fall.
