Ottavio “Otto” Ottaviano passed away on January 20, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born in the small town of Tufillo, Italy and lived through World War II as a teenager. He came to the United States at the age of 17, literally with just change in his pocket. A few years later he was drafted into the Army and spent 2 years of active combat duty In Korea as a Sergeant.
Upon returning home, he started working as a baker in New York City and was introduced to a young woman named Louise, whom he married in 1956. Despite having only a 5th Grade education from a foreign country, he became a self-made man. He owned a successful bakery for decades, and upon “retiring” to Florida at the age of 56, he worked at Publix and Bayonet Point Hospital, where he later volunteered for many years and received several awards. Dad was quite active with The Knights of Columbus and was a former Grand Knight. He was a proud father and grandfather.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Louise, daughter Carmela Johnson (Tommy DiBernardo), son Nicholas Ottaviano (Robin), and granddaughters Danielle Johnson (James Kondor), Lea Johnson, Jessica Sigur (Matt) and Leanne Ottaviano (Evan Oliver).
