JOSEPH J. VROBEL

Joseph (Joe) James Vrobel, 89, formerly of Ashley, PA, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Hudson, Florida, from heart complications.

He was born in Ashley on September 15, 1929, the son of the late Andrew and Anna Mattis Vrobel.  He went to Ashley High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart.

He worked for the Carnation Company as a regional sales rep for over 25 years, and later owned and operated the Magic Travel Agency on South and North Main Streets in Wilkes Barre, PA. He was surrounded by music and always had a song in his head or on his lips. He loved to dance.

He leaves behind his loving and ever-caring wife Meredith; son Michael Vrobel and wife Dorothy, and daughter Rosann Farrell and husband Robert; grandsons Joseph and Brad and granddaughter Jennifer; and four great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Rosalie (Kotchan) Vrobel; brother Andrew Vrobel; and sisters Betty Altavilla, Mary Williams, and Anne Weller.  He was the last living member of his immediate family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Hanover Township, PA.
