Charles “Chuck” L. DeWitt Jr., 93, of Bayonet Point passed away September 14, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joyce, and daughter, Mary (Alan) Girsch, of Valdosta, Ga., and son, John (Mariann)of Kennesaw, Ga., and four grandchildren; Haley (Girsch), Hannah Marie DeWitt, Spencer DeWitt, and Riley DeWitt, and a nephew and niece.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., attended Leland Powers School of Radio, TV, Theater in Boston. During the Korean conflict, he was attached to Special Services in the Second Marine Air Wing of the United States Marine Corps. Following his Marine Corps experience, he embarked on two separate careers, the first in Radio Broadcasting, during which time, he worked for many radio stations as a Disc Jockey, and as a newscaster....

When he and his wife moved to Florida in 1956, he became a featured on-air personality at WPIN in St. Petersburg for many years...during which time, he was voted "Best Disc Jockey in the area" by a listener poll.. Winning a trip to Cuba for he and his wife.

In order to spend more time with his family, he switched careers, and entered into the newspaper business as an advertising executive. For many years, he worked for the Clearwater Sun, from which he retired.

There will be a private family service at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
