With deep sadness and gratitude for a Life well lived, we share the passing of Carolyn
(French) Quinn.
Carolyn was born on January 17, 1930, in Concord, New Hampshire to Edward and Catherine French. She graduated from Concord High School in '1948, where she proudly participated as a member of the cheerleading squad. ln 1950, she married John H Quinn ("Herbie"), who would later serve as mayor of Concord. Shortly after their October wedding, the couple moved to Key West, Florida, where Herbie served in the U.S. Navy.
After returning to Concord, Carolyn worked at New Hampshire Savings Bank, Sprague Electric and the New Hampshire National Guard. Her work with the Guard was especially meaningful to her. She earned numerous awards and built lasting friendships that she cherished throughout her life. She retired in 1992, concluding a career marked by dedication and pride in service.
Carolyn's greatest happiness came from time spent with family and friends and caring for her many pets. Throughout her life, she always kept in touch with family and friends with visits, cards, letters, and phone calls. She treasured weekly Monday night gatherings with loved ones to knit and crochet and she always reserved Sundays for visiting family with Herbie, a tradition they held dear.
Carolyn and Herbie retired in Florida, where she spent the remainder of her life. There, she began each day walking her dog, Lucy and meeting up with neighbors. After her walks, she enjoyed solving a crossword puzzle and there was always a jigsaw puzzle in progress to work on whenever she had a free moment. She also found immense joy working in her garden every day. she loved accompanying family members to tea rooms and Broadway dinner shows, and she was an avid follower of tennis, women's basketball, football and hockey. Living in Florida allowed Carolyn and Herbie lots of time for relaxing on the beach, embracing a slower, peaceful rhythm of life.
Travel was another shared passion for Carolyn and Herbie. Throughout their lives they explored many places together, including Oahu, Maui, California, North Carolina, Florida and Connecticut, along with many trips back to New Hampshire to visit family and friends in their retirement years. ln the finaI decade of her life, Carolyn devoted herself whole heartedly to caring for her husband and her eldest son at home, a reflection of her unwavering love, strength, and selflessness.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, John H. Quinn, her oldest son, John Michael Quinn and her three sisters, Muriel David, Ruth Miller and Barbara Richards. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Rahl, her son, Timothy Quinn, her four grandsons, Justin, Dustin, Patrick, and Oliver, and her brother, Leroy French. She is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Her legacy of devotion and quiet resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
