Anthony, you left this world so much sooner than we ever thought you would. You left behind your Mom (Roseanne Lazarus de Romero) and Dad (Victor Romero Flores) and your Sister/forever best friend (Kadi Rose Romero), your Abuela and so many aunts, uncles, and cousins here in the US and in Mexico. You will be missed and remembered by countless friends whose lives you touched throughout your short 22 (almost 23) years of life. And, even as you left us, you were able to give life to five other people through organ donation.
You made us laugh. You challenged us. From the day you started kindergarten we knew it was going to be a wild ride. We were reading your kindergarten journal that was passed back and forth between your teacher and us daily to monitor your behavior. On one day your teacher told us you were sad because your sister didn’t want you to sit with her on the bus (you told your teacher it was your fault because you “bug her”). Our response back to your teacher was that we were so proud of the special relationship between Kadi and Anthony. We knew how much Anthony depended on his sister. And, we were working with him to help him understand that it was ok for them to have separate friends. Reflecting on that today, and as I looked around the room of people who were gathered to walk his body to the Operating Room for the Organ Donation, (and feeling the presence of those who were with us in their loving thoughts and prayers) it hit me that the ones surrounding us were not separate friends but the friends they shared - we all shared. Friends really do become family and often we are united by the smallest moments of circumstance yet remain forever joined.
There are so many people who have been impacted by his life… we - Anthony’s Dad, Mom, and Sister know that you all have your own stories to share. We invite you to share those remembrances with us here and let’s become forever joined by this circumstance. Please share this page with others in your network (it’s impossible for us to know everyone who knew and loved him). Please remember him and smile - please tell stories with each other and laugh with love.
We are also requesting that if you wish to express your love in a special way, you can make a donation in his name to a charitable organization that supports children in Foster Care. Below is a link to an article that names and describes the top 9 organizations and their impact.

Thank you all for your love and support.
